Artist Statement:
To me, abstract art is about creating a feeling. With this piece, the feelings I want to invoke are joy and playfulness. The bright pink and greens bounce off each other to create the essence of the watermelon, with only silver to separate them.
 
What watermelons represent to me is the fun of summer. Warm days, playing games outside, longer daylight hours, and sweet refreshing snacks! And that is what I tried to portray in this piece!
