Some Spoilers Ahead!
Pros
Good Story
The story takes a look at what happened between guild wars 1 and guild wars 2 and what is happening currently. It is in-depth and has a lot more story chapters than the other xpacs.
It also has side stories in achievements & books scattered across Cantha.
Fun Meta Events
The final meta event of Dragon's End is one of the best meta events. The fight is engaging and has multiple phases.
Fishing & Skiffs
The long sought-after fishing has finally arrived! Fishing has its own mini-game and is both soothing and active.
Skiffs are similar to the skimmer but like the skimmer with friends, attacks, speed boosts, and speed settings. It is like a mobile platform that you can drive you and your friends around on!
Lore Rich for GW1 Players
There are achievements that illude to characters from GW1 and what happened to them/their family line. Guild Wars 1 players will enjoy the nods to the past.
New Specializations
Each profession has received a new elite specialization & they are a lot of fun! Elementalist with hammers and thieves with scepters who would have guessed?
New Legendaries
The new legendaries have several different attunements that change their appearance. The Legendaries can be attuned to the different dragons (with Aurene being the base attunement). Each of the attunements has a unique look focusing on that dragon's appearance. This allows the players to customize their characters!
Turtle Mounts
Turtle mounts allow 2 players to ride and attack while mounted. The driver gets a ground stomp attack and the passenger gets a long-ranged cannon attack.
The passenger also gives speed boosts & the turtle can fly/hover.
Note: Be careful it takes a lot of fall damage!
Strike Missions
These strike missions focus on a single boss raid boss fight. Daily strike missions give you extra rewards.
WvW Alliances & Living World Season 1 Is Back
WvW alliances have been in the works for a very very long time now. It is finally being worked on in-game and hopefully fully brought into fruition this year.
Living World Season 1 was unique because it changed the world as we knew it, Kessix, and Lion's Arch have never looked the same since. Because of the way it was made it was only really available at the time it was happening. Unlike the way, the story is now, where it can be replayed as many times as you want. This story is finally being brought back so it can be replayed again or seen for the first time!
Cons
No New Living World Announced
While Living World Season 1 is back this does mean there is no news for more main story right now. It has been announced that there will be more story in the future. This was a bit disappointing to hear because many of us want to find out what is next.
No New Raids Announced
No new raids, while Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire came out with new raids, there is no announcements for an End of Dragon's raid. It is possible that Strike Missions will be the main focus instead of full-fledge raids.
No New Fractals Announced
Since Sunqua Peak we have not received any new fractals. There are still many fractals that are duplicates on the list but there is no news of any being added. We will see what the rest of the year holds and what their focus will be on.
No New Pvp Maps or Types
Pvp has been focused on the least for a very long time. With them putting a lot of focus on WvW alliances I highly doubt we will see anything new in PvP for a while.
Closing Thoughts
There are more pros than cons on this list. But the real question is, did they add the right content for you? Did they add content you are excited about? Or were you disappointed by the lack of content in some areas? Let me know your thoughts!
