The Hunters Journey - Part 17: The Scarlet Crusade - A World of Warcraft Fanfiction

The Scarlet Crusade tried to claw their way back into Tirisfal Glade their forces lingering on the outskirts. Waiting for their next opportunity to strike. On the West side, we came across something interesting.

Their stronghold had broken walls and left very little protection for them. Fanatical they assumed everyone other than "pure humans" were unclean and tainted by the scourge. Even though they should be considered part of the Alliance. It didn't seem like they even the other races in Alliance or that the other races liked them.

They couldn't let go of the past. They clung so tightly to Tirisfal being a home to the humans. That they didn't see that it had changed. They may be undead now but they were once the humans that inhabited this place and they have more rights to this land than anyone else.

As we fought our way into the camp we came across a large tower. It was the only one in the settlement and was well maintained. So, it seemed like the best place to look for anything of importance. And there was definitely something important in it.

At the top, we found something strange, an undead locked in a cage.

"I thought the Scarlet Crusade didn't take prisoners?" I asked her.

"I am NOT undead!" She said frantically "My father will rescue me, I know it..."

Before I got a chance to ask her more questions, we had to hide.

A Lieutenant arrived and they seemed to know each other, but it did not go the way she expected.

He was about to kill her, but to my surprise, she warped out of the cage, killed him instantly, and then warped back into her cage. I guess she really didn't need our help...

Astonished I asked, "Are you alright?"

She wouldn't answer me and just kept yelling at me to leave. So we did, I did not want to be on her bad side and Junelight and Slyboots didn't either. Both of them were hiding behind me the whole time.

"What did we just see?" I whispered quietly to myself.

The whole way back it was silent, the cats didn't roar, Greenbell didn't peck at me when I summoned her. The eerie silence that filled the air of Tirisfal felt incredibly loud.

It sounded like they were related, the person who gave the order to kill her and Lilian herself. She said her father, and the lieutenant said something Voss.

The lieutenant was so excited to kill her, despite Lilian saying they were friends.

The undead back at Calston's Estate were just as confused as I was about there being an undead in a cage. Despite us asking questions we did not get any answers. They were in the dark just as much as I was about this strange undead and the events that transpired.

Despite my sympathy for the undead, I couldn't help but notice some... immoral things about them. Plague carts, experiments, and blood and gore littered the area. I thought the plague wasn't supposed to be used anymore but here they were saying Sylvanas wanted it done.

Did she really? The Banshee Queen seemed very different from the stories I had heard of Farstrider Sylvanas.

Suddenly a worgen rogue appeared. He attacked us from behind and had a dagger to my neck. Quickly my cats sprung into action, Junelight attacked him from the right, and Slyboots from the left. As they did I grabbed the dagger and ripped it from his hand. We slew him but not before his dagger had cut into my skin.

Surprised and confused I wiped the blood from my neck. It was only a scratch but still. Why was I attacked? Were there more of them? What were the Worgen doing here?

I had so many questions, but first I needed to find someone to help. I spoke to Executor Zygand and he ordered more Deathguard to protect the area. The Scarlet Crusade, the Worgen, and who else? The undead had a lot of enemies and we were definitely going to have to watch our backs...
