The Hunters Journey - Part 9: Ghosts and Friends - A World of Warcraft Fanfiction

It took some effort but we eventually figured out how to put the souls to rest. My magic seemed to hit them despite their incorporeal forms. It wasn't easy to get all the sticky webs off of Junelight but we eventually figured that out too. After I received multiple new scratches and a couple of teeth marks. At least she wasn't too hard with the biting or scratching. The spider webs just made her sassy.

"I'm going to start calling you bitey cat," I said to her playfully.

She seemed to like that idea, she made a cute noise that sounded more like a chirp than a roar and rubbed her head against me.

"Bitey cat it is," I said softly as I pet her head.

Not all of the undead in the Ghostlands are scourge. There were more friendly undead here than I had ever seen before, Tauren, and even some Pandarians. I had barely ever seen these races before, outside of Silvermoon's embassaries. They almost didn't feel real. Seeing them all is amazing. The Tauren were so much bigger than I expected, and their druid forms are amazing. I wish I could learn that type of magic.

Right before my eyes, a druid turned into a cat, then a seal, then a deer, and they did it so quickly!

Each new person we met was on their own adventure. The other races had traveled far distances to come to help my people. It is exciting to see, all of us working together to restore what was broken, and make things better than they were before. It makes me proud, to be part of the Horde.

I won't lie to you though. We have met so many paladins. I know fighting the undead is part of their calling, but boy do they take it seriously. Like they are always, very serious, I'm not sure they have any fun. They didn't even want to pet Junelight, they are too busy on their quests for that. At least the druids liked Junelight, and the other hunters of course did too.

One of the druids even turned into their cat form just to play with her. She was so confused at first, this giant Tauren suddenly became a cat. It took her a moment to warm up to him, but after that, they became fast friends. I think he might have even let her win the race, but I wasn't going to tell her, she seemed too proud to beat the other cat. I know for sure that she did sneak up on him once while they were playing hide and seek. I could see the genuine surprise in his eyes at her finding him so quickly. Unfortunately for her he eventually had to get back to his own quests, but maybe one day we will see him again.

Despite all the fun we had with our new friends, the thought of Dar'Khan roaming free loomed over me. I had to get the people here to trust me enough to tell me where he was. I tried desperately to focus on the tasks at hand, but my thoughts always wandered back to him. We hadn't come across him yet, but soon we will find him. I am sure of it.

Junelight could always sense my unease. She rubbed her head on me and softly roared.

"It's okay," I said as I pat her head. "You can always sense when I am thinking too much can't you?"

She roared again softly and rubbed her head on me again.

"I will try to be more patient," I whispered. I didn't know if I could be more patient. It felt like I was waiting for something terrible to happen and there was nothing I could do except wait. The dread has been eating me up inside.

A loud crunch noise startled both of us...
